Millennium Girls Golf Battles to 2nd Place at the East Valley Invitational

The Millennium High School Girls Golf team added another impressive finish to their season, earning 2nd place at the East Valley Invitational at Lone Tree Golf Club in Chandler, hosted by Higley High School.

But this tournament was about much more than the final standings. It became a true test of perseverance, teamwork, and the ability to adapt when things didn’t go according to plan.

The Tigers entered the tournament already facing a challenge when one of our players had to withdraw at the last minute due to illness. Ashlyn stepped in to compete, playing in her very first 18-hole tournament for Millennium High School. Taking on a full invitational with little notice is no small task, and we were incredibly proud of her for stepping up for her teammates.

With a later start time, the girls knew they would be racing daylight, but no one could have predicted just how late the round would go. Add in windy conditions and an extremely slow pace of play, and the East Valley Invitational quickly became one of the more unusual tournaments of the season.

As the sun disappeared, the girls were still out on the course determined to finish all 18 holes. It eventually became so dark that some players were using phone flashlights just to help see their way around the course and finish their final holes!

It was definitely a tournament they won’t soon forget.

Despite the wind, darkness, long day, and unexpected lineup change, Millennium continued to battle. The girls stayed focused, supported one another, and ultimately walked away with an outstanding 2nd-place team finish.

Adding to the celebration, Aubrey Pizzillo earned individual medalist honors with the lowest score of the tournament. Aubrey’s performance was another incredible accomplishment in what has already been a strong season for her and the Tigers.

Days like this show that golf isn’t always about perfect conditions or perfect rounds. Sometimes it’s about adapting, staying mentally tough, and continuing to compete when circumstances are completely outside of your control.

Our girls did exactly that.

We are incredibly proud of the way this team represented Millennium. They battled until the very last hole—quite literally into the dark—and still found a way to bring home a 2nd-place finish.

Thank you to Higley High School for hosting the East Valley Invitational and to Lone Tree Golf Club for welcoming all of the teams.

Congratulations to Aubrey on her medalist finish, to Ashlyn for stepping up for her team, and to all of our Tigers for another memorable tournament.

Second place. One individual medalist. Eighteen holes. A little wind, a lot of determination, and a few phone flashlights.

Definitely one for the memory books.

Go Tigers! 🐯⛳💜
